Assembling During A Pandemic
Our assemblies are necessary because of Heb 10:25 and reflected in Gov. Abbot's remarks below. Unless we are sick or endangering each other, we will continue to assemble in the parking lot at 9am Sunday and 5pm Wednesday.
Our mission is to save souls which are in even more danger than lives during a pandemic. We are on the spiritual front lines in this situation.
Our challenge is to properly state the risk associated with any plan - in this case to carry on the work of the Lord's church. Since it is the primary work of the congregation to minister the spiritual needs of the body, especially under stress during natural disasters, we would be derilect if we ceased or cut back on our hours of operation. Much like the chaplain on the battlefield, we tend to the spiritual needs while others are tending to the medical needs. It is strange that these same needs are regarded as irrelevant when there is no natural disaster to bring them into focus.
We face two enemies - Satan and a small virus. Either can do a lot of damage. Infection from either source can bring a painful sickness or death.
Like the medical community, we must completely arm ourselves for the battle against Satan Eph 6, while also doing our part in protecting all from the virus. Don't forget to pray.
The problems are identified and real, Mat 24:12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
The cure is effective and possible. Jam 5:20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
